Alice Benton

Alice is a Research Fellow at the Global Disability Innovation Hub, where her work centres on increasing access to assistive technology through system strengthening, innovation in provision models, and support for AT ventures in building evidence and data. Her research interests include local production and repair of assistive technologies, implementation science, and she has a particular focus on innovation in prosthetic and orthotic technologies, provision, and rehabilitation. She comes from an engineering background with an MEng in Medical Engineering from the University of Leeds. Before joining the GDI Hub, she completed her PhD in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London, within the Musculoskeletal Mechanics Group and the Centre for Doctoral Training in Prosthetics and Orthotics. Her PhD research focused on rehabilitation for people with lower-limb amputations, combining computational and experimental methods to advance the use of musculoskeletal modelling in rehabilitation research and clinical translation.
