How do we tackle inequality in the new global context?

At the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, we hosted a side event on how we tackle inequality in the new global context.
Joined by panellists Muhammad Atif Sheikh, Pollyanna Wardrop, Fatma Aljassim, Elly Savatia, Kirana Putri Prastika and hosted by Dr Victoria Austin (GDI Hub co-founder) the session brought new and different voices to the table to reflect on what next, and why it’s more important than ever that efforts to challenge inequality are founded within this new global context.
Fatma Aljassim shared the challenge of having the same conversations over and over again, and how lived experience imbeds authenticity "The future is hopeful, but we need accountability". She summarised that "we are not here to compete, we are here to complete"
Data and partnerships were also a key theme from Elly Savatia, and Kirana Putri Prastika reflected on the importance of "starting with the people furthest away". Muhammad Atif Sheikh highlighted the need to build leadership of people with disabilities, and Pollyanna Wardrop shared the importance of "bringing data to the table that speaks to decision making protocols"
